TOKYO, Japan — Japanese voice actress and stage performer Asami Yaguchi passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
Born on July 31 in Saitama Prefecture, Yaguchi began her professional acting career in 2002. Over a career spanning more than two decades, she became a versatile performer in voice acting, television animation, video games, and stage theatre. She was widely recognized for voicing Kuchipatchi in the Tamagotchi! anime series, the childhood version of Gintoki Sakata in Gintama, and Sawyer the Cleaner (Frederica Sawyer) in Black Lagoon. Her performance credits also included Katina Tarask in Super Robot Wars OG, Eleonore von Wittenburg in Dies irae, Haruo Musashi in Doraemon, as well as roles in Fantastic Children, Kiba, Fairy Musketeers, Web Ghosts PiPoPa, MapleStory, and the Japanese dub of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Yaguchi's talent agency, Kenyu Office, officially announced her passing on Monday, September 28, confirming that she died suddenly due to heart failure.
Agency representatives expressed profound grief over her loss, remembering her as a foundational member who supported Kenyu Office since its early years. In accordance with the wishes of her family, her funeral services were held privately with close relatives.
