At approximately 5:53 p.m., Philadelphia Police Department officers from the 25th District were dispatched to a home in the 1200 block of West Erie Avenue following reports of an unresponsive woman. Upon arrival, officers and emergency medical personnel entered the residence and discovered Pagan suffering from severe blunt force trauma to the head. Paramedics conducted emergency medical evaluations, but Pagan sustained nonsurvivable injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Official Status and Homicide Investigation
The Philadelphia Police Department Homicide Unit initiated an active murder investigation, leading to the arrest of a suspect two days later.
On Saturday, September 26, 2026, homicide detectives apprehended 46-year-old Melvin Rivera in connection with Pagan's death. According to Philadelphia Municipal Court documents, Rivera was formally arraigned on charges of murder and possessing an instrument of crime with intent. A preliminary hearing date has been scheduled, and Rivera remains in custody at a Philadelphia correctional facility after being denied bail.
