At approximately 12:29 a.m., Fort Dodge Police Department officers and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the 300 block of South 4th Street following multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire. First responders arrived at the scene to find three men suffering from gunshot injuries. Stewart had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was provided immediate trauma intervention; however, he succumbed to his injuries. Paramedics treated 21-year-old Jayvion A. Wilson, who also suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and transported him to a regional hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The third victim, 29-year-old Laquwon A. Moore, was treated at a local hospital for a single gunshot wound and subsequently released.
Official Status and Homicide Investigation
The Fort Dodge Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) have launched a joint homicide investigation.
Detectives and forensic technicians cordoned off the 300 block of South 4th Street overnight to process ballistics evidence, collect physical samples, and interview witnesses. The State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny was notified to perform an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death. Law enforcement officials have not yet announced suspect descriptions or arrests as the investigation remains active.
