LAHAINA, Hawaii — An 18-year-old Lahaina resident, Manuel Olivas, was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash along Honoapiilani Highway in West Maui early Wednesday morning, September 30, 2026.

At approximately 1:33 a.m., Maui Police Department officers and Maui Fire Department emergency medical personnel were dispatched to Honoapiilani Highway near the intersection of Kaanapali Parkway following reports of a severe motor vehicle collision. According to preliminary field reports, Olivas was operating a white 2000 Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the pickup truck. The vehicle veered off the roadway, descended an embankment, and struck a tree on the driver’s side.
