Arkansas Truck Driver Kevin Wesley Russell Struck and Killed on Interstate 84 in Oregon

NORTH POWDER, Oregon — A 46-year-old commercial truck driver from Leachville, Arkansas, Kevin Wesley Russell, was tragically killed in a multi-vehicle highway crash along Interstate 84 near North Powder, Oregon, on Monday, September 28, 2026.

According to preliminary field reports from the Oregon State Police, Russell was operating a Peterbilt semi-truck traveling westbound when his vehicle developed mechanical issues. Russell safely pulled the disabled semi-truck onto the shoulder of Interstate 84 near milepost 278 in Union County. A commercial tow truck subsequently arrived at the scene to provide assistance. As Russell was standing outside of his disabled vehicle, a second westbound Kenworth semi-truck drifted off the main travel lane, struck the stationary Peterbilt truck, and hit Russell. Oregon State Police troopers and Union County emergency personnel responded to the scene, where Russell was pronounced deceased from severe trauma.
