Keiler Cruz-Guerra Obituary, Arlington, Texas: 5-Year-Old Dies Following Apartment Stabbing

ARLINGTON, Texas — Keiler Cruz-Guerra, a 5-year-old boy, died after being stabbed inside an apartment in Arlington late on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. His 2-year-old brother was also found with serious injuries and taken to a hospital, according to the Arlington Police Department. The younger child was reported to be in stable condition in the department’s initial statement.


Authorities said the investigation began after a man approached a police officer at a gas station on North Cooper Street shortly before midnight and struck the officer’s vehicle window with a knife. The man drove away, leading officers on a pursuit that ended along Interstate 30, where he was taken into custody.

Police said that during the arrest, the suspect made statements indicating that his children had been harmed at their apartment. Officers responded to the residence on South Cooper Street and found the two boys with injuries consistent with a knife attack.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the child who died as Keiler Cruz-Guerra. Police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Heyco Cruz Linares, who was charged with capital murder, evading arrest and making a terroristic threat against a peace officer. Additional charges may follow as the investigation progresses. The allegations remain subject to the legal process.

Investigators have not confirmed a motive for the incident. Authorities have not released further details about Keiler’s life or funeral arrangements in the reports cited.
