At approximately 9:21 a.m., emergency dispatchers received calls reporting a severe traffic accident along 180th Street, roughly one mile south of Fairview Road near Paradise. Multiple emergency teams—including the Russell County Sheriff’s Office, Russell County EMS, Russell Fire Department, and Russell County Fire District 3—responded to the crash site. First responders located a northbound 2012 Ford F-350 pickup and a southbound 2012 Peterbilt truck that had collided on the roadway. Ethan Dickerson, the driver of the Ford F-350, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Peterbilt, identified as Barry Maupin of Lucas, Kansas, was transported from the scene via personal vehicle for medical assessment.
