LSU Refutes Viral Death Hoax Involving Football Coach Sawyer Jordan

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Social media reports and viral posts on Saturday, October 3, 2026, claiming that LSU Tigers football coach Sawyer Jordan has died at age 33 are entirely false. Coach Jordan is alive and actively serving on the university's coaching staff. Jordan currently serves as the Inside Wide Receivers coach for the LSU Tigers 2026 football season, having joined the staff in December 2025 alongside Head Coach Lane Kiffin. A native of Conway, South Carolina, Jordan earned his bachelor's degree in secondary education from Clemson University in 2018, where he worked as an offensive student assistant during Clemson's 2016 national championship season. Before joining LSU, Jordan built his collegiate coaching resume with analyst and assistant roles at Louisiana-Lafayette, South Florida, Coastal Carolina, and Ole Miss. Official Status and Verification GuidanceThe circulating death claims originated from an unofficial parody account on social media platform X, which falsely posted that the assistant coach had passed away. LSU Athletics and official staff directories confirm that Jordan remains active on the Tigers' 2026 coaching roster. No official press statements, university releases, or family notices have been issued to support the online rumor. Media monitoring organizations and sports journalists have widely debunked the post as a death hoax, urging social media users to rely exclusively on official university disclosures and verified news organizations for accurate personnel updates.
