The incident occurred while Schmitt was on the job in his capacity as a pipe layer for Noblesville-based Weihe Construction Company, where he had been employed for the past eighteen months. Emergency first responders provided medical aid before transporting him to IU Health Hospital in Fishers, where he was pronounced deceased at 10:47 a.m.
