26-Year-Old Naseem Thomas Fatally Shot Following Funeral Service in Chicago

CHICAGO, Illinois — A fatal shooting on Chicago’s South Side claimed the life of 26-year-old Naseem "Poohman" Thomas on the evening of Friday, September 25, 2026. According to the Chicago Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. near a Citgo gas station at the intersection of 76th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue.

Two unidentified individuals inside a black sedan approached Thomas and opened fire. Following the gunfire, Thomas entered a black Dodge Challenger and attempted to drive away before colliding with a utility pole several blocks away near 74th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue. First responders located Thomas inside the crashed vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds and transported him to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
