Palm Desert High School Lockdown After Nearby Police Investigation

Palm Desert High School and Sacred Heart School in Palm Desert, California, were temporarily placed under a secured lockdown on Friday, September 25, 2026, while Riverside County Sheriff's deputies investigated a reported burglary in the surrounding area. 
According to reports, deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence on Calle Lantana at approximately 1:49 p.m. Their response led to a significant law enforcement presence near Deep Canyon Road and Moss Rose Lane.
As deputies searched the residence and surrounding area for possible suspects, authorities placed both schools under temporary security restrictions as a precaution. The measure was intended to protect students and staff while officers carried out their investigation. 
Students Declared Safe as Lockdown Ends
At approximately 2:43 p.m., the Riverside County Sheriff's Office announced that students at both schools were being released and that no further public safety threat was present.
Palm Desert High School Principal Sarit Saig also informed families that students were safe. The school subsequently lifted its secured lockout, and regular activities resumed. 
Authorities reported that deputies did not locate any suspects during their search of the residence. As of the latest reports, officials had not confirmed any arrests or injuries connected to the incident.
