TULLY TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The close-knit community of Payne and surrounding Van Wert County are grieving the tragic loss of 19-year-old Kaci Rae Sentelik, who lost her life following an intersection collision on Friday morning, August 21, 2026. News of her sudden passing has left her immediate family, former high school classmates, and local friends facing an overwhelming and heartbreaking loss.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Investigates U.S. 30 Intersection Collision

According to official news updates released by the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, emergency personnel were dispatched at approximately 9:04 a.m. to the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and State Route 49 in Tully Township. Troopers established that Sentelik was operating a southbound 2010 Toyota Corolla on State Route 49 when her vehicle was struck on the driver's side by a westbound 2006 Western Star commercial semi-truck driven by a 24-year-old Michigan resident. Responding emergency crews from the Convoy Fire Department and Van Wert Fire Department provided immediate assistance, but Sentelik tragically succumbed to fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Van Wert County Coroner’s Office. Investigating troopers, assisted by the Van Wert County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio Department of Transportation, continue to review the roadway factors involved.
