Hundreds of kayakers filled Copenhagen harbour on Sunday, waving Greenlandic flags in a parade marking the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples.

Organised by Uagut, an association for Greenlanders in Denmark, together with ActionAid Denmark, the event drew crowds who gathered on bridges and quays to watch.

"It's been a very tough year to be a Greenlander. We have felt threatened and we have been fighting for our own identity, for our people and the right to our land," said Uagut chair Julie Rademacher. Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, has faced repeated calls from US President Donald Trump to bring the mineral-rich island under American control.
