Emergency responders and deputies with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident shortly before 11:10 p.m. on Somerset Road (KY 1956), within the western city limits of London. According to preliminary findings, a 2021 silver Mercedes was traveling eastbound when it entered a sharp right-hand curve, lost control along the left shoulder, and overturned.
Two occupants—17-year-old Landon Mullins of Mt. Vernon, and 18-year-old Duke Weddle of London—sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. A third occupant, 18-year-old Elijah Hammons of London, suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A fourth occupant, 20-year-old Joseph Cope of Lexington, sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office maintains an active, ongoing investigation into the crash dynamics and contributing factors.
Three accident reconstructionists with the Sheriff’s Office are working in coordination with officers from the London Police Department to analyze the roadway, vehicle mechanics, and environmental conditions.
