Moses Russ, 24, Atlanta Police Recruit, Dies After Moreland Avenue Crash

ATLANTA - Atlanta Police Department recruit Moses Russ, 24, died after a crash near Moreland Avenue and McDonough Boulevard while on his way to work, city officials said.

CBS News Atlanta reported that the crash happened shortly before 7:17 a.m. and involved at least one vehicle and a motorcycle. Mayor Andre Dickens and Police Chief Darin Schierbaum identified Russ during a news conference. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where officials said he died.

Russ was in the 16th week of training with APD Class 302, according to the report. Before joining the police academy, he had served with the Atlanta Department of Corrections and the U.S. Coast Guard.
