Coach Uryadov passed away Friday night, August 14, 2026, at the age of 40 following a reported motorcycle accident in the New Milford, Connecticut area. A Distinguished Hockey Legacy from Russia to NCAA Division I and Prep Coaching

A native of St. Petersburg, Russia, Uryadov established an impressive hockey career both as an elite player and a dedicated mentor. He arrived in the United States as a standout player for South Kent School from 2003 to 2005 before enjoying a four-year NCAA Division I collegiate career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) from 2005 to 2009. Following two years playing professionally overseas, Uryadov returned to prep hockey in 2015 as a coach at South Kent School. He joined Canterbury School in 2025 as Associate Head Coach and Admissions team member before being named Head Coach for the 2026–2027 season.

Tributes Honor His Energy, Generosity, and Lasting Impact on Student-Athletes

Canterbury Head of School Caroline Blatti and Director of Athletics Rob Morris paid tribute to Uryadov's genuine care for young athletes, highlighting his infectious energy, humor, and ambitious vision for Canterbury Hockey. "He brought such joy and generosity to the life of the School, but what I will remember most is the way he cared for people," Blatti shared in a statement. Coach Uryadov is survived by his wife, sons, and extended family.
