Japanese voice actress Asami Yaguchi has died at the age of 47. Her talent agency, Kenyu Office, announced her passing on September 28, confirming she died suddenly on September 26, 2026. ORICON News reported heart failure as the cause of death.

Japan's anime community is mourning the loss of Asami Yaguchi, a Japanese voice actress whose performances brought memorable animated characters to life. Her death was announced by Kenyu Office, the talent agency she had supported since its early days.

According to the agency's announcement, Yaguchi passed away on September 26, 2026. The announcement was published two days later. ORICON News reported that she was 47 and that her death followed heart failure. Her funeral was held privately with close family members, in accordance with her family's wishes. 
A career remembered through anime
Yaguchi built a diverse career in Japanese entertainment, with credits spanning anime series, video games, foreign-language productions and stage performances. She was particularly recognized for her work in several established anime franchises.
One of her best-known roles was Kuchipatchi in the Tamagotchi! anime series and related productions. The character became closely associated with her voice through the franchise's animated appearances.
She also voiced young Gintoki Sakata in Gintama, contributing to the character's childhood scenes and the story of his early life. In Black Lagoon, she voiced Sawyer, a distinctive supporting character in the action series.
Her other notable credits included Katina Tarask in the Super Robot Wars OG series and Eleonore von Wittenburg in Dies irae. These roles reflected her work across different genres and character types.

In its statement, Kenyu Office expressed profound sadness over Yaguchi's passing. The agency remembered her as a bright and caring person who had contributed to its work since its early years.
