BELIZE CITY, Belize — Police authorities in Belize City are investigating a fatal late-night drive-by shooting that claimed the life of 21-year-old Jaheem Sanchez and left another man wounded. According to official incident reports published by Breaking Belize News, the armed assault occurred shortly after 10:00 p.m. along T Street in the south side of Belize City.

Drive-By Assault on T Street Preliminary findings released by the Belize Police Department indicate that Mr. Sanchez, a resident and construction worker from Justice Street, was socializing with an acquaintance while seated on a parked vehicle along T Street. Investigators established that two unidentified men wearing dark clothing approached the pair on a motorcycle before pulling out firearms and opening fire at close range.

Police Investigation and Community Response Mr. Sanchez sustained multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries at the scene before medical personnel could transport him to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. The second victim suffered gunshot wounds during the barrage and was taken to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment. Major Crimes Unit detectives and scene of crime technicians processed the area for ballistic evidence as police launched a search for the fleeing motorcyclists. Authorities have not yet confirmed a motive for the attack, and no arrests have been announced as the investigation remains active.
