COBB COUNTY, Georgia — The communities of Cartersville and Cobb County are deeply grieving the sudden passing of 26-year-old Casey Price, who lost his life in an early-morning vehicle collision on Saturday, August 22, 2026. News of the tragedy has left family members, close friends, and former classmates facing an overwhelming and painful loss.

Cobb County Police Department STEP Unit Investigates Highway Collision

According to official news updates released by Sgt. Eric Smith of the Cobb County Police Department, emergency units responded at approximately 3:23 a.m. to the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near the Interstate 575 interchange. Investigators reported that Price was operating a gray 2024 Mazda CX-30 northbound on I-75 when the vehicle exited its lane into the paved gore area separating the two interstates. The Mazda subsequently collided with a parked 2022 Freightliner tractor and flatbed trailer positioned within the gore area. Responding emergency medical personnel pronounced Price deceased at the scene, while the driver of the commercial vehicle was unharmed. Officers from the Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit are continuing their crash reconstruction investigation.
