JASPER COUNTY, Texas — A fatal off-road vehicle accident claimed the life of 23-year-old Dylan Lind of Vidor, Texas, on Friday evening, September 25, 2026. Emergency responders were dispatched to Farm to Market Road 1131 near County Road 878, approximately eight miles south of Evadale, at around 8:00 p.m.
According to preliminary reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Lind was operating a Polaris utility terrain vehicle (UTV) northbound in the east barrow ditch along FM 1131 when he lost control of the vehicle. The Polaris entered a severe side skid before overturning into the ditch. A Jasper County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived as the first law enforcement officer on scene, where Lind was pronounced deceased due to fatal traumatic injuries sustained in the rollover.
Official Status and DPS Investigation
The Texas Department of Public Safety is leading the official crash investigation. A local Justice of the Peace responded to the site to conduct the inquest and ordered a formal autopsy. DPS troopers closed sections of FM 1131 Friday night to document physical evidence, examine vehicle mechanics, and reconstruct the sequence of events. The investigation remains active.
