CASPER, Wyoming — The Casper community and Natrona County Sheriff’s Office are mourning the passing of Andrea Florence, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dedicated registered nurse, who passed away peacefully at Central Wyoming Hospice on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, following a battle with cancer.

Natrona County Community Mourns Passing of Longtime Detention Center Nurse Andrea Florence

CASPER, Wyoming — The Casper community and Natrona County Sheriff’s Office are mourning the passing of Andrea Florence, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dedicated registered nurse, who passed away peacefully at Central Wyoming Hospice on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, following a battle with cancer.


Born in Wyandotte, Michigan, on July 31, 1956, to John and Marguerite Rainey, Florence married her husband of 52 years, Donald Wayne Florence, in 1974. After graduating from the Casper College Nursing Program in 1991, she devoted decades to public health, serving at the VA Hospital in Hot Springs, South Dakota, Wyoming Medical Center, Community Health Center, and Park Place Assisted Living. In June 2014, she joined the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, where she served as a civilian detention nurse for nearly 13 years, providing healthcare and compassionate oversight to individuals at the Natrona County Detention Center.

Official Status and Funeral Services
The Natrona County Sheriff’s Office issued a formal tribute honoring Florence's nearly 13 years of service to county law enforcement and detention healthcare operations.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Casper, officiated by Pastor Bert Eldredge, followed by interment at Highland Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Don; her children, Tanya Renee’ Florence-Horning and David Wayne Florence; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; five siblings; and extended family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be directed to Central Wyoming Hospice.
