Four Identified in Fatal South Shore Helicopter Crash Near Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville

SAINTE-BRIGIDE-D'IBERVILLE, Quebec — A tragic helicopter crash on Montreal's South Shore claimed the lives of four people on Saturday afternoon, September 26, 2026.

Emergency services and Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officers responded to reports of an aircraft in distress at approximately 2:30 p.m. near Rang des Écossais, off Highway 10 in the municipality of Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville. Responding fire crews brought an active brush and wreckage fire under control, but all four occupants on board were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victims were identified as 50-year-old pilot Suzanne Jutras, along with passengers Gabriel Jasmin, a radio host for 106.1 Énergie in Sherbrooke; Chantal Raymond; and her son, Loucas Perreault. According to family accounts, the private helicopter flight was organized as a special aerial tour to celebrate Raymond's birthday before the aircraft experienced catastrophic difficulties and went down.

The Sûreté du Québec's Major Crimes Unit, working alongside crime scene technicians, has established primary jurisdiction over the site in coordination with investigators from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB). Federal Transport Minister Steven MacKinnon confirmed that Transport Canada will appoint a minister's observer to monitor the safety investigation. TSB investigators are mapping the debris field and recovering wreckage components to analyze mechanical systems, environmental factors, and flight data to determine the cause of the accident.

Tributes have poured in for Suzanne Jutras, an experienced pilot of several years whose husband, Yves Boulais, is a prominent field crop producer supported by the Haut-Richelieu UPA Union. The family festival Les Félixeries also honored Jutras for her years of dedicated volunteer piloting.
