Michael D. Durkin Obituary, Chesterton Indiana Death: 16-Year-Old Chesterton High School Junior Remembered

Michael D. Durkin was a 16-year-old junior at Chesterton High School in Chesterton, Indiana. Born on May 29, 2010, in Crown Point, Indiana, he was the son of Michael and Nicole Durkin and the brother of Isabel.


Michael participated in his school's debate team, where he had opportunities to express his ideas and engage with fellow students. Outside school, he enjoyed working at Dairy Queen, playing video games with friends, and exploring his interests in Japanese culture, anime, and the Japanese language. His favorite games included Minecraft, Grounded, and War Thunder. He also shared a special bond with his chocolate Labrador, Nala.

His passing has brought sadness to his family, classmates, and friends. Those who knew Michael will cherish the memories they shared with him, including his interests, friendships, and experiences throughout his life.

Funeral arrangements were announced at Moeller Funeral Home in Valparaiso, Indiana, with visitation and a service scheduled for October 1, 2026. Family members, friends, and others have the opportunity to gather and pay their respects.

Michael is survived by his parents, Michael and Nicole, his sister, Isabel, and other relatives and loved ones. His memory will remain with those who knew and cared for him.
