A shooting in downtown Los Angeles left two people injured on Tuesday afternoon, September 29, 2026. The incident occurred near South Figueroa Street and West Francisco Street, prompting a police investigation and a search for the suspects.
According to reports from ABC7 Los Angeles, officers responded at approximately 2:45 p.m. to reports of gunfire in an alley near the 800 block of South Figueroa Street.
The Los Angeles Police Department reported that the incident began when suspects exited a vehicle and opened fire on a man standing behind a Smart & Final store. The man reportedly returned fire before the suspects continued shooting as they fled.
The man who exchanged gunfire with the suspects was transported to a hospital in critical condition. A second person, described by police as an innocent bystander, was struck by gunfire while inside a nearby vehicle. Paramedics treated the bystander at the scene and released him.
Investigators are searching for three male suspects who reportedly fled in a black, four-door BMW. Authorities have not publicly confirmed their identities or established a motive for the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
