HAMILTON, Ont. — Hamilton Police have launched a homicide investigation following the death of a 21-year-old man who was fatally stabbed early Sunday morning, August 9, 2026. Emergency responders were dispatched around 2:30 a.m. after a passerby and a passing taxi driver discovered the victim suffering from severe stab wounds on the south sidewalk of Main Street West near Frid Street.Bystanders performed immediate first aid until emergency medical services arrived and transported the young man to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries approximately thirty minutes later.
Investigators Link Attack to Earlier Altercation and Scooter Pursuit
Preliminary findings indicate that the victim was riding an e-scooter prior to the fatal encounter.Detectives believe the stabbing followed an earlier altercation that broke out between 2:00 a.m. and 2:45 a.m. near King Street West and Paradise Road North, culminating on the sidewalk along Main Street West.Investigators believe those involved fled the scene shortly after the attack and are actively appealing to witnesses or anyone with relevant video footage to step forward.
Police Call for Dashcam Video and Public Assistance
Detective Alex Buck and Acting Det. Staff Sgt.
