State Authorities Reviewing Circumstances Leading Up to Pursuit

As is standard protocol for officer-involved shootings in Alabama, independent state investigators—typically led by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA)—have been called in to review the incident. Authorities have not yet released details regarding what prompted the initial contact at the McDonald's or what specific actions led up to the discharge of firearms. The identity of the deceased will be withheld pending formal notification of next of kin.
