Pa Le Her, a 30-year-old Wasilla, Alaska resident and nurse, died following a shooting at Reflections Lake near the Glenn Highway on Monday, September 28, 2026.

According to the Alaska State Troopers, authorities received a 911 call at approximately 4:52 p.m. reporting a disturbance involving a firearm at the popular lakeside location. Troopers and Wasilla police officers responded to the scene.

A preliminary investigation determined that Her had been intentionally shot by her husband, 36-year-old Wasilla resident Chang Thao. Her was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said Thao then shot himself. He was transported to a Mat-Su area hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died at approximately 9:20 p.m. Both deaths were subsequently referred to the Alaska Bureau of Investigation, which assumed responsibility for the case. (Daily Dispatch)

Authorities also reported that vehicles were struck by gunfire during the incident. Reflections Lake is a popular recreational area, and officials said other people were present in the area when the shooting occurred.
