Jeralyn Osterloh and Seth Grunwald Killed in Brewster Crash as Loved Ones Pay Tribute

Jeralyn Osterloh and Seth Grunwald have died following a two-vehicle head-on collision in Brewster, Massachusetts, leaving their families, friends, and communities mourning two lives lost in the crash.

According to Brewster police, the collision occurred on Main Street near Crosby Lane at approximately 9:34 p.m. on September 17, 2026. First responders arrived at the scene and found Osterloh deceased. Grunwald was found alive in the other vehicle but later died from his injuries at Cape Cod Hospital.

Police identified the victims as 24-year-old Jeralyn Osterloh of Brewster and 38-year-old Seth Grunwald of Truro. Investigators said there were no passengers in either vehicle.

Grunwald was driving a 2016 Nissan Sentra, while Osterloh was driving a 2016 Toyota Corolla, according to police. Main Street was closed for several hours as authorities investigated the collision and worked at the scene.

The crash has brought grief to the Cape Cod community, with loved ones remembering both victims as the investigation continues.

Grunwald’s father, Kevin Grunwald, shared a tribute to his son after the crash. He described Seth as a kind and gentle person who was always willing to help others and often greeted people with a shy smile.

Kevin also remembered his son as someone who loved his family, dogs, gaming friends, clients, and coworkers. He said Seth had a dry wit, strong beliefs, and a keen sense of social justice.

Before his death, Grunwald had worked for roughly eight years as a residential counselor at Latham Centers. His work brought him into contact with clients and coworkers who were also among the people affected by his sudden passing.

Osterloh was a longtime member of the Brewster community. Earlier records identify her as having attended Nauset Regional High School and being involved in the local community before continuing her education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation. Brewster police are working with Massachusetts State Police and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from other agencies, as investigators seek to establish what led to the fatal crash.

As relatives, friends, coworkers, and community members mourn, tributes are providing a way for those who knew Osterloh and Grunwald to remember their lives and the relationships they built.
