Jason Barrager Obituary, Death: 50-Year-Old Man Found Dead on Kansas School Property
Jason Barrager, 50, of Independence, Kansas, was found dead on Elk Valley USD #283 school property in Longton on September 22, 2026. Authorities said Barrager had been seen alone on the school grounds around 3 a.m. and did not leave the area. The Kansas community is mourning following the death of Jason Barrager, 50, whose body was discovered on school property in Longton, Kansas.
School personnel found Barrager at approximately 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, and immediately contacted local authorities. The Elk County Sheriff’s Office later requested assistance from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
Investigators determined Barrager had been alone on the Elk Valley USD #283 school property around 3 a.m. and remained in the area until his body was discovered.
According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Barrager did not have obvious injuries. An autopsy will be conducted as investigators work to determine the cause and manner of his death.
Authorities said there are currently no indications of foul play and no evidence suggesting students or members of the public are at risk because of the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
