The military and public affairs communities are mourning the death of Sgt. 1st Class Edwin J. Pierce, a Virginia native and recently retired U.S. Army service member who died following a motorcycle accident.
Pierce began his Army career in 2006 as an aviation crew chief, serving in that role for more than five years before transitioning into public affairs in 2011. Over nearly 14 years, he built a reputation as a dedicated communicator, helping share the Army's mission and the stories of its Soldiers while earning the deep respect of those he worked alongside.
In 2024, Pierce became the Digital Management Division NCOIC at the Pentagon, a key leadership position reflecting his extensive experience in digital communication and military public affairs.
Pierce will be remembered for his steadfast commitment, professionalism, leadership, and the lasting relationships he built throughout his military career.
