METUCHEN, N.J. — The Saint Joseph High School community in Metuchen is mourning the loss of Gregory Tufaro ’85, a devoted alumnus, leadership figure, and steadfast supporter whose lifelong dedication left an indelible mark on the institution. Tufaro passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by service, professional excellence, and unwavering loyalty to his alma mater. Colleagues and peers remembered him as a transformative figure who elevated everyone around him through his guidance, mentorship, and warm presence.
Instrumental Leader in Falcon Athletics and Hall of Distinction
Throughout his life, Tufaro remained deeply engaged in school traditions and alumni leadership. He served as the chair of the inaugural Hall of Distinction Committee, taking a central role in establishing the initiative to honor standout members of the Saint Joseph family. Furthermore, Tufaro was instrumental in resurrecting the Saint Joseph Athletics Hall of Fame. In recognition of his decades of advocacy and organizational support for Falcon sports, he was formally inducted into the Hall of Fame as an official contributor in 2021.
