Traveling southbound along Interstate 69 on Saturday morning, August 29, 2026, the couple was involved in a collision near mile marker 93 with an unoccupied construction semi-truck. A 29-year-old construction worker from Fort Wayne was also seriously injured in the accident and airlifted for emergency medical care.
