According to official dispatches released by the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Warren Post, troopers were called to the scene at approximately 8:28 p.m. in Hubbard Township. Investigators determined that Kriebel was operating a 2005 Saab 9-3 that had pulled over onto the right shoulder of the eastbound lanes. While outside his vehicle in the right lane, Kriebel was struck by an eastbound 2021 Freightliner Cascadia commercial semi-truck.
