Nighttime Collision on North Avenue According to collision reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Fresno Area office, Mr. Hansen was operating a 2005 Harley-Davidson westbound on North Avenue, just west of Minnewawa Avenue, at approximately 8:55 p.m. Investigators established that an unidentified bicyclist was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane—against the flow of traffic—while towing an attached cargo cart in the dark. Mr. Hansen’s motorcycle struck the towed cart, causing the Harley-Davidson to overturn and ejecting him onto the roadway.
Hospitalization and Investigation Status Emergency medical services personnel transported Mr. Hansen to a regional trauma center for emergency resuscitation, but attending medical staff later pronounced him deceased due to severe trauma.
