DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — The DeKalb County E-911 Communications Department is mourning the loss of Communications Officer III Lakytia King, who passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
King served as a dedicated Police and Fire Dispatcher for 18 years, having joined the DeKalb County emergency dispatch team in 2008.
A Legacy of Dedicated Public Service
Throughout her nearly two-decade career in public safety, Officer King served as the primary voice for the county's South radio dispatch zone, coordinating critical emergency responses for law enforcement, fire crews, and citizens across DeKalb County and surrounding municipal agencies.
Her colleagues and department leadership remembered her as a vital pillar of the E-911 family, widely recognized for her professionalism, deep compassion, and uplifting comedic spirit under high-pressure conditions.
