Her family confirmed her death in a statement released to the media, noting that she passed away peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by loved ones.

A Multigenerational Career

Born Michele Ann Marie Fabares in Santa Monica, California, in 1944, she began acting as a child before becoming a household name.

• The Donna Reed Show: Fabares captured hearts starting in 1958 as teenage daughter Mary Stone on the hit ABC sitcom, a role she played for nearly 200 episodes.

• Pop Chart Success: During her tenure on The Donna Reed Show, she launched a brief pop music career. Her 1962 single, "Johnny Angel," climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, selling over one million copies.

• Silver Screen & Elvis Presley: She transitioned into films in the mid-1960s, notably starring opposite Elvis Presley in three musical comedies: Girl Happy (1965), Spinout (1966), and Clambake (1967).

• Coach & Emmy Honors: Later generations came to know her as Christine Armstrong, the sharp-witted television anchor and wife of Hayden Fox (Craig T. Nelson), on the long-running comedy Coach (1989–1997). Her performance earned her two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. She also made recurring appearances as Francine Webster on One Day at a Time.
