CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A. Sterling MacSwain Jr., formerly of Morell and a resident of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the age of 91.
Life and Family
Born April 19, 1935, Sterling was the beloved husband of the late Florence (Ployer) MacSwain.
Children: Don, Ann (Dean), David (Annette), and Nancy (Edward).
Grandchildren: Andrew (Lisa), Robert (Christina), John (Taylor), Rebecca (Alex), Spencer (Molly), Jenny (Javier), Vicki (Chris), Stephen (Kamila), and Kate (Tyson).
Great-Grandchildren: Mason, Mila, Molly, Alex, River, Porter, and Olivia.
His family expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Dawn Shea and Cindy for years of medical care, as well as the staff at Chappell Court—where Sterling resided for his final nine months—and the Provincial Palliative Centre for their compassionate support.

Arrangements are entrusted to MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel.
Visiting Hours: Friday, August 28, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at MacLean Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church in Charlottetown.
Interment: Midgell Cemetery.
Memorial Donations: In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church or Peter Gordon Memorial United Church.
